Job Location: Nyeri Duration: 12 Months Reporting: Executive Director-Pioneer Child Development ProgrammeChild Fund Kenya in collaboration with SPOWDI is piloting a climate smart agriculture project which entails utilization of cost effective solar powered irrigation system. The pilot project targets 250 farmers in Nyeri, Migori and Laikipia counties who will be capacity built on using the irrigation system as well as value chain selection and management. The project is implemented in partnership with Pioneer Child Development Programme - PCDP (An NGO working in Nyeri & Laikipia counties) and Lake Region Development Project - LRDP (NGO working in Migori county). Pioneer Child Development project is recruiting for the position of Business Promotion Officer. The business promotion officer will report to the Executive Director-PCDP and will work closely with Food Security, Livelihood and Climate Change Action (FSL &CCA) Lead at ChildFund Kenya Country Office with frequent visits to the three counties to ensure, monitor, assess and collect data on the viability of the SPOWDI irrigation system and how farmers are benefiting from it in view of replicating it to the rest of the counties where ChildFund has its operations. He/she is expected to work closely with the ChildFund Country Office, Local Implementing Partners (LIPs) in the field, County Government departments of Agriculture and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of the project as per Pioneer CDP procedures & guidelines.
Collaborate with the LIPs and ChildFund Country Office to develop comprehensive/ appropriate promotional strategies aligned with the partnership goals and objectives. This may include both online and offline promotional activities.
Business Plan Development:Collaborate with the LIPs and ChildFund Country Office to develop business plans for farmer groups for scale up and linkage to financial institutions.
Create Marketing Materials:Generate marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, advertisements, and digital content to effectively communicate SPOWDI partnership value proposition and offerings to the farmers audience.
Organize Project Promotional Events:Plan and execute project showcasing events during farmer trainings/ demonstrations/ shows and similar farming / partner events to promote the project.
Digital Marketing:Utilize various digital marketing channels including social media, email marketing and content marketing to reach a wider audience and drive informed awareness of SPOWDI technology and climate smart farming model.
Customer Relationship Management:Build and maintain relationships with the clients / farmers ensuring a smooth link between the farmers and product suppliers for timely addressing of arising challenges in adoption of the technology. Additionally, interact with potential customers to understand their needs and address any concerns they may have in their context.
Market Research:Conduct market research to identify industry trends, partner activities, and customer preferences. Use this information to fine-tune promotional strategies and product quality/ delivery.
Sales Support:Work with identified financial institutions to provide them with the necessary promotional materials and support training, and mobilize farmers through linkages and referral support to effectively promote the climate smart technology. This may involve conducting project presentations & providing product demonstrations and jointly planning marketing opportunities for the sales institutions.
Data collection and reporting:Establish an efficient workplan to monitor, assess and collect data on farmer engagement, utilization of SPOWDI’s technology using provided tools (SPOWDI App.) and track gains by the targeted farmers.
Partnership Development:Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, NGOs, and private sector partners involved in water resource management and agricultural development as per the appropriate guidelines. Identify opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing to enhance project impact and sustainability.
Communication and Outreach:Working to contribute to the project's communication and outreach efforts by drafting content for newsletters, social media posts, and website updates. Ensure dissemination of project findings, success stories and learning materials to a wider audience.
Reporting:Submit regular quality reports with data analysis which will be used to improve, plan for the expansion of the project.
