🌍 Countdown to Change: Sustainability Youth Summit 2025

On 23rd May 2025, over 500 youth, educators, policymakers, climate advocates, and innovators will converge at Karatina University Main Campus, Kagochi, Nyeri County for a groundbreaking event, the Sustainability Youth Summit 2025 (SYS 2025).

With the theme “Preparing Youth for a Sustainable Future in the Era of Climate Change,” this year’s summit is set to be a vibrant platform for dialogue, innovation, and action, all driven by one goal: empowering young people to lead the charge for a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.


🀝 A Collaborative Effort for Impact

The Summit is a collaborative initiative between Pioneer Child Development Programme (PCDP) and Karatina University, alongside youth and key stakeholders in the sustainability space.

  • Pioneer Child Development Programme is a child-focused development organization working across Laikipia, Nyeri, and Meru counties, with a strong vision of promoting thriving and climate-resilient communities.
  • Karatina University is a distinguished chartered public university in Kenya, known as a beacon of academic excellence and innovation.

Together, these partners are creating an inclusive platform where young people can learn, connect, and be inspired to lead change.


🌱 Why SYS 2025 Matters

As the climate crisis intensifies, youth must be equipped not only with knowledge but with tools, opportunities, and mentorship to lead effectively in their communities and careers. The summit will highlight three key thematic areas:

  1. Sustainability
    Strategies and insights on how youth can promote sustainable practices within their local contexts.
  2. Green Careers

Exploring emerging job opportunities in the green economy, from renewable energy to sustainable agriculture and eco-entrepreneurship.

  1. Innovation and Green Technology.

Showcasing cutting-edge innovations that address climate challenges and support resilient ecosystem. 

🎯 Summit Objectives

SYS 2025 is designed to:

  • Raise awareness among youth about climate change and its implications for career and livelihood opportunities.
  • Promote technical and university programs focused on green technologies and climate-smart solutions.
  • Connect young people with mentors, role models, and industry experts in the sustainability space.
  • Inspire adoption of climate-smart innovations and sustainable practices in education, careers, and community initiatives.
